LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities say five people have been hurt, including two Los Angeles police officers, after a driver rear-ended their parked patrol car.

The crash occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Lake Balboa area of the San Fernando Valley.

The LAPD says a police SUV was parked on Louise Avenue when a car plowed into the back of it.

Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says the motorist also hit a parked Los Angeles County vehicle.

He says the driver and four people in the other cars were injured - three of them seriously - but none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.

Police investigators are trying to determine whether the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
