BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a man is hospitalized after he was shot during a struggle with a Buffalo police officer responding to a report of home invasion.

Police officials say the officer responded around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a break-in at a residence on California Street. The officer spotted a man running from the scene and pursued him on foot.

Officials say the officer caught up with the man and during the ensuing struggle the cop’s weapon fired once, hitting the suspect.

He’s being treated at a Buffalo hospital for apparent non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say the shooting is under investigation by the police department’s Internal Affairs Division.
