ST. SIMON’S ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - A new manager is heading for Fort Frederica National Monument on St. Simon’s Island.

The National Park Service said Steve Theus will relocate to coastal Georgia in October to begin his new assignment.

Theus is a longtime ranger at the Jimmy Carter National Historic site.

The Florida Times-Union (https://bit.ly/1JSOvkC ) reports that Theus began work with the Park Service in 1993 at the Carter historic site. Since 2009, he has served as chief of interpretation for the site and has served three stints as acting superintendent.
