LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska has added Central Michigan to its nonconference football schedule in 2020.

The Chippewas will visit Lincoln on Sept. 19 of that year in the first meeting of the schools in football.

Central Michigan has been one of the top programs in the Mid-American Conference over the past decade. Since 2006, CMU has captured three MAC titles and played in six bowl games, including an appearance in the Bahamas Bowl in 2014.

The Chippewas opened the 2015 season against Oklahoma State and regularly play opponents from the Power Five conferences. Since 2010, Central Michigan has played nonconference games against Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Virginia Tech, Purdue, Syracuse and Kansas.

Nebraska has one more nonconference game to add to the 2020 schedule.
