JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Voters in Jonesboro will be asked to approve a sales tax increase during a special election in November.

The Jonesboro Sun (https://bit.ly/1EUGa0w ) reports that the Jonesboro City Council has officially set Nov. 10 as the special election date on the two proposed taxes, which would total 1 cent.

One would pay for transportation infrastructure, while the other would fund a new entity that would be called The Economic Development Corporation of Jonesboro.

The tax increase would generate an estimated $14.1 million per year for transportation projects and $1.9 million per year for economic development. Both taxes would expire after 10 years, or in April 2026.
