CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Authorities are seeking a motive for a street shooting in southern New Jersey that left a man dead.

Camden County prosecutors say the shooting occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Camden.

Two county police officers who were in a marked patrol vehicle parked on the 300 block of Broadway heard several gunshots coming from the area of Broadway and Benson Street. As they went to investigate, they saw 19-year-old Saadiq Coleman running toward them.

The Camden man collapsed just before reaching the officers’ vehicle. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead later Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Coleman was shot “multiple times,” but declined to provide further details.

The shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.
