SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Officials say an afternoon accident on Interstate 81 in Syracuse involved a tractor-trailer that was hauling a carnival ride from the New York State Fair.

The Syracuse Post-Standard reports (https://bit.ly/1NhCBTF ) police responded to reports of a crash on I-81 south involving a jackknifed tractor-trailer and six other vehicles around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, a day after the fair closed.

Sgt. David Sackett says the accident occurred just past the Adams Street on-ramp when one motorist sideswiped the tractor-trailer and several vehicles ahead of him.

Sackett says traffic was slowing southbound before the crash due to a vehicle fire. The tractor-trailer lost control and jackknifed before coming to rest in the right lane.

Police say one injury was reported. A 72-year-old woman was taken to Upstate University Hospital with non-life threatening facial injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
