MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - The family of a 78-year-old woman who was fatally shot in the Myrtle Beach Mall parking lot earlier this year has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach (https://bit.ly/1M47Y6A ) reports that the lawsuit was filed Tuesday and accuses the shopping center of lacking adequate security staff and properly working surveillance cameras.

Frances “Mae” Davis, whose daughter had gone inside a store to shop, was shot in the head on Jan. 8 while sitting in the front passenger seat of a car. Her purse and cell phone were missing.

Police have been unable to make any arrests or identify any suspects in connection with the slaying.

Joe Perl, the mall’s general manager, could not be reached for comment on Thursday.
