PHOENIX (AP) - Gov. Doug Ducey has appointed an attorney to be the next Maricopa County Superior Court judge.

Ducey announced Thursday the appointment of employment lawyer Kristin “Kris” Culbertson.

Ducey says she is an “outstanding public servant” who will make a valuable asset to the bench.

Culbertson’s background includes practicing law involving employment and labor issues related to state and federal statutes.

She has dealt with cases involving harassment, discrimination, fair competition and other workplace issues.

Culbertson earned her law degree from Arizona State University College of Law in 2000.

She will fill a vacancy left by the resignation of Judge Joseph Sciarrotta Jr.
