SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A 16-year-old Springfield boy has pleaded not guilty to murder in the shooting death of a Ludlow man.

Lawyers for the teen entered the plea on his behalf during his arraignment Thursday in Springfield District Court. He was ordered held without bail.

He’s facing the murder charge in connection with the death of 20-year-old Jeffrey Freitas, who was found dead in the city’s North End neighborhood last Saturday.

The youth was ordered held at a juvenile facility. He is due back in court on April 28.
