WATERBURY, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Department of Public Safety says technical problems have created delays in getting information out to the public.

The department says a recent increase in spam caused a response that shut down its email server. Only one server was being used, causing a delay in sending out many of the Vermont State Police press releases issued in the last few days.

The Vermont Department of Information and Innovation is working to resolve the issue. The department says it’s prepared to use a backup system if the problem continues.
