LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A 26-year-old Little Rock woman accused of fatally stabbing her father 16 times has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/1X16KJT ) reports that Jacklynn Murphy pleaded guilty Wednesday to a reduced charge of second-degree murder in the death of 53-year-old Gary Murphy. She had been charged with first-degree murder and her trial was scheduled to start next week.

Prosecutor Melanie Martin said that Little Rock police found Gary Murphy dead and wrapped in a blanket in the kitchen of his home in August 2014. Martin said he had been stabbed in the back, chest, neck and hip, and that his right foot was partially severed.
