ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - A memorial service was held Monday for the man allegedly shot to death by his neighbor in Centennial.

Friends and family gathered at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church in Englewood to honor 65-year-old physician Kenneth Atkinson. Neighbors say he was shot as he ran to help others in the shooting outside his home on April 4.

Forty-six-year-old Kevin Lee Lyons has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the shooting.

Lyons’ wife, 44-year-old Elizabeth Lyons, and 46-year-old Laurie Juergens were also shot but expected to recover.

Lyons’ public defenders have expressed concerns about his competency to stand trial.
