TULLAHOMA, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Army National Guard’s 30th Troop Command has a new commander.
He is Col. Milton Thompson, who takes charge of the unit headquartered at the Tullahoma Readiness Center.
Thompson assumed the role from Col. John Krenson, who has been the commander since March 2014.
Assistant Adjutant General Brig. Gen. Tommy Baker officiated over the change-of-command ceremony Tuesday.
Thompson enlisted in the guard as a draftsman and surveyor in the 194th Engineer Brigade in 1985 and received his commission from Vanderbilt University in 1987. He has been deployed overseas to Egypt and Korea and was deployed as the 194th Engineer Brigade’s adjutant during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Krenson is retiring at the end of May after 30 years of service.
