GREENVILLE, Ga. (AP) - West Georgia law officers are searching for a pair of inmates they say escaped from a county jail.

The Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office says the inmates broke out around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Sheriff’s officials say one inmate - 34-year-old Eugene Lamar Mitchell - was spotted in the Rocky Mount area around 11 p.m. Tuesday. They say Mitchell has changed from his orange jail jump suit into different clothing.

Mitchell was being held on several charges, including child molestation, sexual battery and burglary.

Authorities identified the second inmate as 29-year-old Travion Terrell Hall. They say he was being held on a probation violation.

Authorities say they’re using several methods to search for the pair, including police dogs.

The county is about 50 miles southwest of Atlanta, just east of LaGrange.
