LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Chinese man charged with killing his two teenage nephews has been returned to Los Angeles after being extradited from Hong Kong.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials said FBI agents and sheriff’s detectives escorted 44-year-old Deyun Shi back to Los Angeles International Airport on Friday.

He boarded a flight to Hong Kong after the boys were bludgeoned to death in their beds early on the morning of Jan. 22.

Investigators said Shi attacked his wife with a wood-splitting hammer after learning she wanted to divorce him. When the boys’ parents went to the hospital to visit Shi’s wife, authorities alleged he broke in to their Arcadia home while they boys slept and killed them.

Shi’s wife, who is the sister of the dead teens’ father, survived the attack.
