CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - A man was killed when gunfire erupted on a Camden street, the latest in a series of shootings in the city that have left seven people dead this month.

Camden County prosecutors say police found 34-year-old city resident Abdullah Fussell around 7 p.m. Friday in the area of Eighth and Chelton streets. They went there after getting an alert through the city’s gunfire detection system.

Fussell later died at a hospital. A motive for his slaying remains under investigation.

The shooting came one day after two men were found shot to death inside a Camden home. Another double homicide occurred April 4 at another city residence.

It’s not clear if any of the fatal shootings that occurred this month are connected.

Camden has now seen 12 homicides in 2016, compared to seven at this time last year.
