SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital is undergoing a remodel after experiencing its busiest year.

Chief Executive Officer Dr. Blake Curd tells the Argus Leader (https://argusne.ws/1SMNdck ) that cases at the surgical hospital were up 10 percent from 2014. Curd says this year is tracking 7 percent to 8 percent ahead of last year. The hospital has about 200 employees.

The operating room is being remodeled and reconfigured to accommodate bigger surgeries and add capacity. The hospital is adding CT imaging services and has seen growth in urology and sports medicine, in addition to steady demand in orthopedic surgeries.

The project is expected to take up to nine months, and leaders say they’ll be looking to expand again after it’s completed.
