DOUBLE SPRINGS, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a teenager has died after she drowned while swimming with family at a lake in northwest Alabama.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman Johnathan Appling says 15-year-old Carmen Elizabeth Johnson of Hartselle was swimming off a boat dock at a residence when she accidentally drowned in Lewis Smith Lake around 12:45 p.m. Saturday.

Appling says Johnson was pulled from the water by divers around 2:45 p.m. and pronounced dead.

Appling says ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division will continue to investigate the drowning.
