LIVERPOOL, N.Y. (AP) - Sheriff’s detectives have identified a body discovered over the weekend at Onondaga Lake Park outside Syracuse as that of a 54-year-old homeless man reported missing earlier this month.

The body of Norman Mattice of Syracuse was discovered underneath the entrance-way ramp to the Salt Museum. Authorities say exposure to cold temperatures is believed to have led to his death. Foul play is not suspected.

The Onondaga Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the exact cause of death pending toxicology results.

Mattice was reported missing on April 5 after a concerned friend had not heard from him in a few days. Police say he had been staying at a Catholic Charities shelter since late December and was last seen walking away from the shelter on April 1.
