TUCKER, Ga. (AP) - A 77-year-old woman is recovering after she says a neighbor’s pit bull attacked her and killed her dog.

Jeanette Lasseter tells WSB-TV (https://2wsb.tv/1U3mIVf ) that the pit bull attacked her early Sunday while she was taking her 8-year-old Maltese dog out for a walk in Tucker.

Lasseter says the pit bull bit her thigh and dragged her down a driveway.

Lasseter’s daughter, P.J. Seale, says she heard her mother’s screams and was able to grab the dog and tie it up until police arrived. Lasseter’s pet died shortly after the attack.

The pit bull is at the DeKalb County Animal Shelter awaiting an upcoming hearing involving the dog’s unidentified owner.
