OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The U.S. Air Force is holding a public meeting to gather input from the communities surrounding Tinker Air Force Base about where it should permanently house an operating base for its KC-46A refueling tankers.

The open house will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Reed Conference Center in Midwest City.

The Air Force has selected Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina as the preferred location to house the 12 KC-46A aircraft and the accompanying facilities, infrastructure and hundreds of jobs. But Tinker Air Force Base and bases in Indiana and Massachusetts are still in the running as what are called “reasonable alternatives.”

Some of the maintenance on the KC-46A aircraft will be performed at Tinker.
