MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Authorities are investigating two brush fires that broke out at Rock Rimmon Park in Manchester.

WMUR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/22JNEcW ) the Manchester Fire Department is investigating the fires, which were first reported just before 4 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters responding to the park for the first fire encountered an acre of burning brush on arrival. Crews were able to contain and extinguish the blaze after about 40 minutes.

After the first fire was knocked out, a plume of smoke was spotted about a half-mile to the northwest. Firefighters remained at the scene of the second blaze for several hours before it was deemed under control.
