ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) - Howard County Police say they have charged a California man with trafficking two young women from Arkansas for prostitution.

The department said in a news release that officers were called for a domestic violence incident in Ellicott City last week. Police say a witness saw a man dragging a woman out of a car.

Investigators say while talking with the man and two 18-year-old women, they began to suspect the women were being prostituted by the man. One woman said the man drives her places where she is expected to have sex for money.

Police arrested 39-year-old Charlton Jeanpierre of Hayward, California. He is charged with human trafficking and prostitution offenses and is being held on $500,000 bond.

Officers say the two women will be provided with services and assistance.
