HOUSTON (AP) - A Houston man faces assault charges after police say he beat a woman and pointed a gun at an officer who then opened fire, wounding the suspect.

Harris County jail records show Marcus Lakeith Harris of Houston was being held Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault of a family member and aggravated assault of a public servant.

Online records don’t list an attorney to speak for Harris, whose bond was $80,000.

Officers on Sunday responded to a disturbance and saw an injured woman on a street and Harris with a gun. Investigators say Harris refused to drop the weapon. He was shot after aiming at police and running toward officers.

The officer who fired wasn’t hurt. Harris was treated for a gunshot wound.

Details weren’t released on the injured woman.
