PURCHASE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 24-year-old man has been arrested following a gun scare on the SUNY Purchase campus.

SUNY spokeswoman Betsy Aldredge says Jean-Pierre Filtcher was taken into custody Monday evening. She says the New Rochelle man fled the campus on Sunday night following a dispute at a student event.

The university emailed students Sunday night telling them that police had received a report of a possible armed suspect who fled the campus into the woods. They urged students to stay indoors. Authorities say Filtcher fled without hurting anyone.

Investigators haven’t said what charges he’ll face. It wasn’t clear if he was a student at the school and whether he was armed during the incident.

It’s not immediately known if Filtcher has an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
