NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A man accused in the fatal shooting of a Rutgers University student has pleaded not guilty to murder and robbery charges.

Marcus Feliz entered his pleas Tuesday during a brief court hearing. His bail was maintained at $750,000.

The 25-year-old Newark man is charged with murder, felony murder and robbery in the April 10 slaying of 21-year-old Shani Patel, who was shot in his off-campus apartment near the university’s Newark campus. Patel’s roommate also was wounded but is expected to recover.

Essex County prosecutors have said Feliz isn’t affiliated with the university.

Another man sought in the case, 26-year-old Fraynned Ramirez, of Hartford, Connecticut, remains at large. He faces the same charges as Feliz.
