BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - A Beaufort man wanted in connection with the death of a man whose body was found on St. Helena Island last year has turned himself in to authorities.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head (https://bit.ly/1NyLTs5 ) reports that 20-year-old Tayquan Lampkin surrendered at the Beaufort County Law Enforcement Center on Monday. Lampkin faces charges of being an accessory after the fact of murder related to the death of 35-year-old Ver’mon Steve.

Steve’s body was found on St. Helena Island on Nov. 18, more than three weeks after he disappeared from his Beaufort home.

Lampkin is the third person to be arrested in connection with Steve’s death. Thirty-nine-year-old Varsheen Smith and 21-year-old Tyron Wallace were charged in November with kidnapping in connection with Steve’s disappearance.

It’s unclear whether Lampkin has an attorney.
