MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Russ Feingold’s national security plan is an early focus of ads from both sides in Wisconsin’s Senate race.

Feingold on Tuesday launched a new statewide ad featuring a Vietnam veteran touting the former senator’s plan to combat terrorism.

Feingold’s ad comes after an outside group supporting incumbent Republican Sen. Ron Johnson ran a spot last week critical of Feingold’s approach to fighting terrorism.

The veteran in Feingold’s ad, Dan Krehbiel, stands in front of an American flag and says “we don’t need politicians playing games with attack ads.” He then praises Feingold’s foreign policy platform, calling it a “tough, realistic plan to protect America.”

Feingold’s campaign says the 30-second ad is running statewide.
