MADISON, Calif. (AP) - A California man has been convicted of mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon after authorities say he stabbed six people at a girl’s 15th birthday party.

The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1qCLD68 ) that the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office says a jury found 18-year-old Daniel Portugal guilty of mayhem, six counts of assault and several allegations of great bodily injury on Friday. The jury couldn’t reach a verdict on three counts of great bodily injury.

Authorities say Portugal was an uninvited guest at the October quinceanera party in Madison. Police say he was detained on the scene by people at the party.

Authorities say the six victims were transported to local area hospitals by emergency medical personnel for treatment.

Portugal’s sentencing is scheduled for May 10.
