MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man who claimed he was beaten by police during a 2014 traffic stop has been arrested on charges in a knife-point robbery.

The officer in the 2014 case was acquitted of felony assault last December.

Nassau County police said in a release that 22-year-old Kyle Howell of Westbury was arrested early Tuesday. He was awaiting arraignment in district court. There was no immediate information on an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

Police say Howell approached a man and woman sitting in a parked car Monday night. He allegedly cut the man before fleeing with cash.

He was arrested, along with two others, hours later in Manhasset. All three were held on drug possession charges. Howell also is facing assault and robbery charges.
