NEW YORK (AP) - A New York City man is accused of spewing racist remarks at a Muslim driver and her husband and spitting on them during a road rage incident.

The Staten Island Advance (https://bit.ly/1VzI9is ) says Paul Sellitti was arraigned Monday on a harassment charge.

Sellitti says he cursed out the woman because she was driving too slowly on March 17.

Court documents allege he used a racial epithet and said: “Get out of my country.”

Contacted by the Advance, he apologized and called himself “an idiot.”

Sellitti said he was “having a bad day” and is not a racist.

He added that he gets “cranky” when he hasn’t had his coffee.
