NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have accused a North Liberty day care operator of smoking marijuana while watching several children at her home.

Fifty-four-year-old Pamela Nelson was arrested Sunday and is charged with two misdemeanors: child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance. Online court records don’t list the name of an attorney who could be contacted to comment on her behalf.

Officers say in a report that Nelson was seen smoking pot on her front porch while six kids slept inside her house, alone. The officers say Nelson admitted smoking marijuana and that she seemed impaired.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 28.
