PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Authorities say a Providence man has pleaded guilty under a plea agreement to his role in a fatal drive-by shooting in 2014.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin announced Tuesday that 22-year-old Juan Ranero was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Prosecutors say Ranero was driving a vehicle in Providence in May 2014 when his passenger, Joseph Taylor, fired a handgun at passengers in another car. The shooting killed 20-year-old Davon Taylor and injured his 15-year-old sister, Destiny. The victims aren’t related to Joseph Taylor.

Prosecutors believe Joseph Taylor shot the victims because they lived in a rival neighborhood.

Joseph Taylor pleaded guilty in March 2015 to being the shooter. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
