LANSING, Mich. (AP) - A state Senate Appropriations Committee has approved a $25 billion budget for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

The budget now moves to the Senate floor and includes an additional $5 million for senior nutrition programs like Meals on Wheels.

It also would give the first pay increase since 1991 for nurses caring for homebound children. It includes a new adult dental initiative and would expand dental care for all children on Medicaid.

Both chambers of the Legislature and Gov. Rick Snyder have to approve the measure.

The committee also on Tuesday approved a $66 million total budget for the Department of Insurance and Financial Services, and about $418 million for the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

Those budget bills also are heading to the Senate floor.
