PITTSBURG, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a person was fatally shot Tuesday night on Highway 4, the latest in a series of freeway shootings in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The East Bay Times reports (https://bit.ly/1STzKiO ) that California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Brandon Correia says the shooting was reported about 9 p.m. on westbound Highway 4 in Pittsburg by Loveridge Road.

Details about exactly what occurred were not immediately known.

There are reports that several people were arguing at a gas station before getting into separate cars and driving onto the freeway, where a person in one of the cars was fatally shot. It was not known if gunfire came from more than one vehicle.

This is at least the tenth freeway shooting east of San Francisco since November. Not all have been fatal.

Many of the shootings have happened on Interstate 80.
