TOWN OF PLEASANT SPRINGS, Wis. (AP) - Dane County authorities say a barn fire broke out shortly after the homeowner parked a riding mower in the barn.

Sheriff’s deputies along with Cottage Grove firefighters were called to the fire in the Town of Pleasant Springs around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities say after parking the mower, the homeowner went to check the mail but found the barn engulfed in flames upon returning.

The fire quickly spread to the house. Crews were not able to extinguish the blaze before it spread through a large part of the home.

Damage to both the barn and house was significant. Authorities say the fire is not considered suspicious, and no one was hurt.
