SLIDELL, La. (AP) - The St. Tammany Parish Coroner has identified the two men who died in a plane crash near the Slidell airport.

Dr. Charles Preston says 68-year-old Wayne Fisher, of Slidell and 59-year-old Donald Pechon, of Covington, died in Tuesday night’s crash.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the crash.

Police Chief Randy Smith says two pilots were working for the St. Tammany Parish mosquito control agency.

Smith says two mosquito control planes were landing when the first plane flipped over, hitting a power line and crashing in the woods north of the airport. The other plane landed safely.

Smith says city crews are working Wednesday on clearing the area in order for investigators to reach the site.
