WESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Lewis County Assessor T. Chad Kelley is charged with harassing a woman who broke up with him by calling and texting her.

The Exponent Telegram reports (https://bit.ly/1Su4wlp ) that West Virginia State Police’s criminal complaint says the woman produced hundreds of texts and calls from Kelley.

Kelley was released on a $25,000 bond for misdemeanor charges of harassment and harassing communication by a cellphone.

The complaint says Kelley contacted her multiple times daily, though she told him to leave her alone several times and law enforcement told him to stay away.

It says Kelley wouldn’t leave the woman’s driveway and porch for hours.

It says Kelley’s activity occurred between March 7 and April 12.

Kelley’s lawyer, Tom Dyer, said he denies the charges and intends to defend against them. Dyer said Kelley has no intention to resign.
