PIKESVILLE, Md. (AP) - Two people have been taken to the hospital after a fire at an apartment building in Pikesville.

Baltimore County fire crews responded to the blaze on Tuesday night.

Once inside, firefighters were stationed on each floor of the six-story building to monitor the conditions. Some residents were asked to shelter in place. Others were advised to wait on their balconies.

The fire was under control about an hour later.

Fire officials say two people were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another person was treated at the scene.

It was not immediately clear Tuesday night how many people were displaced or what caused the fire.

Firefighters say residents in the first three floors have been allowed to return to their apartments.
