JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a Jacksonville man jumped off a bridge to avoid being hit by an out-of-control car.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue crews rescued 38-year-old Damien Hadley from the St. Johns River Monday night.

The Florida Times-Union (https://bit.ly/1XIkLwx ) reports Hadley was near a broken down car on the Buckman Bridge when he saw a Honda Civic driving toward him.

The Florida Highway Patrol says 30-year-old driver Leigha Igneizi lost control of the car, hit a barrier wall and then struck the broken down vehicle. She was suffered minor injuries in the crash. She was cited with careless driving.

Troopers say Hadley was not injured.
