NEWPORT, Ark. (AP) - Police say that an 18-year-old man has been arrested in the death of a Newport woman who was killed when someone opened fire on the car that she was riding in.

The man was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Arkansas State Police, with assistance from the Batesville Police Department. Police say that 30-year-old Vanessa Thomas was shot around 11:30 p.m. on April 15. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
