GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - A Gillette man and his wife are charged with causing his 4-year-old daughter to be so badly malnourished a pediatrician told investigators that if she had remained in those conditions for another month she would have died.

The Gillette News Record reports (https://bit.ly/241KkMI ) 39-year-old Dale L. Roberts and 38-year-old Dee Jurisch have made initial appearances in Circuit Court in Gillette. A preliminary hearing is set for May 3 to determine if there is probable cause for them to be tried for felony child abuse.

Court records say the girl told a forensic interviewer that her dad was mean to her, made her take cold showers and made her sleep in the hallway.

Roberts did not have an attorney listed with the clerk of court and Jurisch applied for a public defender.
