BERNALILLO, N.M. (AP) - An Amtrak passenger train struck and killed a man walking on the railroad tracks in an Albuquerque suburb.

Bernalillo police say the train struck the man Tuesday afternoon.

Amtrak said the person who was hit was trespassing and that there were no injuries to the train’s crew or the 142 passengers.

The train was Amtrak’s westbound Southwest Chief, which travels from Chicago to Los Angeles.

Amtrak spokeswoman Chelsea Kopta says the accident delayed the train over two hours.

Several Rail Runner commuter trains between Albuquerque and Santa Fe also were delayed.
