SLIDELL, La. (AP) - An investigation is underway into the cause of a fatal plane crash in southeast Louisiana.

Police Chief Randy Smith says two pilots for the St. Tammany Parish mosquito control died in Tuesday night’s crash near the Slidell airport. Two mosquito control planes were landing when the first plane flipped over, hitting a power line and crashing in the woods north of the airport.

Smith said the other plane landed safely.

The victims’ identities have not been released.

Smith says city crews are working Wednesday on clearing the area in order for investigators to reach the site.
