JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Senate has ended its part of 2016 legislative session, but the House still has a bit of work.

Senators adjourned and went home Wednesday. House leaders planned to do the same, but Democratic Rep. Bryant Clark of Pickens held a bill for reconsideration.

Clark’s move came after the House rejected his request for more debate on a House Bill 926 (https://bit.ly/26fJii5 ), to consolidate the Durant and Holmes County school districts. Clark says his constituents oppose consolidation, but the House voted along party lines to send the bill to the governor.

After that, Clark held an unrelated bill for reconsideration - and that forces the House to return to the Capitol on Thursday.

House Bill 1223 (https://bit.ly/26fJvSz ) would allow people to carry open containers of alcohol in entertainment districts.
