PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - State police haven’t closed the books on the 1984 murder of a 20-year-old college art student.

Dawn Svocak was reported missing when she failed to return to her Plattsburgh apartment in August 1984. A student at SUNY Plattsburgh, Svocak was last seen in front of a downtown restaurant.

Less than a month later, two farmers cutting a cornfield outside the city in Beekmantown located the decomposed body of a white female. Dental records identified the remains as that of Svocak.

An autopsy revealed her death was the result of blunt force trauma and the case was ruled a homicide.

State police are asking anyone with information to call (518) 897-2000.
