COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - The man accused of shooting and killing a 24-year-old father inside a Columbus mall last month has turned himself in to authorities.

News outlets report that 18-year-old Xzavaien Jones was apprehended on a murder warrant without incident Monday and booked into the Muscogee County Jail without bond in connection with the death of Anthony Meredith.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan says Meredith was killed March 26 after being shot several times in Peachtree Mall’s food court area that afternoon. The motive for the slaying is unclear.

It was not immediately known whether Jones has an attorney.
