EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) - Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, has settled its dispute with Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles over the name of the school.

Mount St. Mary’s University spokesman Christian Kendzierski said a statement Tuesday that both sides reached a resolution but did not elaborate on the terms of the agreement. He says the California school can go by the name Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles.

The Frederick News-Post (https://bit.ly/1SZwMtt ) reports that the Maryland university accused the California university of creating confusion for potential students after it adopted the title of university in its name last year. It also said the school “unlawfully trades on the goodwill and reputation MSMU has established.”

The California college said the school’s name didn’t infringe trademarks.
