PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say an autopsy has determined that a woman found inside a closet of her suburban Detroit apartment has been suffocated.

Oakland County sheriff’s officials said Saturday the death of 30-year-old Marie Colburn was ruled a homicide. Colburn’s body was found Friday night by her mother.

Investigators say a notice from the Michigan Department of Corrections had been attached to the apartment’s front door in an effort to contact Colburn’s boyfriend. Sheriff’s officials say he was on parole for a manslaughter conviction and had cut off his electronic tether somewhere in Detroit.

The victim’s car, missing from her home, was found in Detroit. It’s being examined.

Authorities are searching for Colburn’s boyfriend, identified only as a 33-year-old man from Pontiac.
